    Hi,
    I hope everything is well.
The first orthodontic treatment usually involves an assessment of your teeth.
The orthodontist takes a good look at your teeth to identify dental treatment are necessary beforehand. They’ll also take X-rays.
Also they take a mould of your teeth to ensure that the braces are the right size for you.
In the next appointment, you’ll have separators (spacers) placed on your molars. These will ensure that there is enough space for the bands to fit in when you get your fixed braces.
I’m not sure how long you’ll have to wait before having fixed braces. It depends upon whether or not you need further dental treatment first before having braces.
I had fixed braces myself because of crowding. I waited several weeks or maybe a month to have fixed braces because I had four teeth extracted to make room.
Since you’re 25 years old, you’ll have to pay for your orthodontic treatment on the NHS. Orthdontic treatment on the NHS is free if you’re 18 or under.
I hope your orthdontic treatment goes well. I’m sure you’ll be just fine and in the end you’ll have better teeth. Take care and good luck.

    Hi Emma, how are you?
My name is Paul, an Irish dentist, specialising in orthodontics.
Your first visit is simply an assessment, whether it be through the NHS or privately.
Your doctor will wish to check,
(1)your oral health.. any work re cav ities etc must be completed before orthodontic treatment.
    (2) To assess your malocclusion (bite difficulties) by means of x-rays and impressions. An impression is taking a physical mould of your teeth.
When we have collected the details, treatment usually starts immediately,as in very shortly after.
Feel free to email me any other enquiries.

it really involves them looking at the shape of ur mouth deciding what type on braces u need and maybe taking impressions to make the braces for u

If you’re 25, you cannot generally get braces on the NHS, because it’s only for people under the age of 17/18. But if you are on the NHS, when you go to the orthodontist’s, they will look at your mouth, take impressions (with putty so they know what your teeth look like after you’ve left) and ask you what you think about your teeth. After that, they’ll tell you whether you need braces or not. For children they might ask you to come back when all the milk teeth have come out. They also take X-Rays and normal photos of your teeth (smiling, not smiling, side profile, teeth close up). The waiting time actually depends. If you need bands (to anchor the wires to the back molars) they will have to put in these blue things called separators. They will take around 3 days – 1 week to make the gaps in between your teeth, but it makes banding easier. If you don’t need bands, then you should only have to wait a fortnight at the most (this really depends on the orthodontist and his/her time available).
    Good Luck x

It depends what kind of braces you need, if you need train tracks then they’ll probably be fitted on the first visit, if you need a retainer then they will take a mould of your mouth and then you’ll get it a few weeks later.
    hope i helped =]

The orthodontist will examine your teeth and measure the crookedness.
He/she will then tell you off for not cleaning your teeth properly – if you can fit a hygienist visit in before your appointment then do
If they agree that you need braces you will go on the waiting list – maybe up to two more years before the molds are taken and the braces made for you

They usually examine your teeth ,may do an impression (were they take a mould of your teeth ) and do x-rays. It depends how busy they are as to how long you will have to wait for a follow up.

First visit is usually just an assessment, so they look at you may take x-rays and sometimes impressions.
It is very unusual for someone of your age to have braces on the NHS.
