You just have to go to school to be a registered nurse. I’m taking a year off from school right now, but I already have a year of classes I have taken. I’m going into obstetrics and I don’t need any special classes. An ob/gyn nurse is one that aids in the care of the mother during labor and delivery by the way.
That branch of nursing is called neonatal nursing, the title is nurse or a nurse practitioner if you have advanced training in nursing… go here to find out about nursing. http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos083.htm
Those type of nurses are called neonatal nurses. Nurses that work in this position usually have a 4 year college degree and also have a title of Registered Nurse. Once you graduate nursing school and pass the NCLEX-RN (nursing licensure examination) you can work in most areas of the hospital. If you want to work with babies you have to get extensive training in Neonatal CPR and such.
pediatric or neonatal nurse. Yes, you need to possess a degree and be licensed by the state board of nursing. your degree program varies by state requirements. some states only require an AS or AAS, while others require a BS in nursing.
Baby Sitters. Just read some books from the library and learn how to baby sit.
neonatal nurse. Regular RN courses. 4 years. You also can take extra classes in Pediatric nursing.
Often it is refered to as Neonatal. This really refers to the premature babies that are cared for in the Neonatal unit of the hospital. Maternity Nurses care for the “Well baby” nursery. However you usually also care for the Mom during delivery of the baby and after the baby is delivered. It isn’t really set up like you see on TV any more.
I’m sorry in re-reading your question..You must be come a registered Nurse. There are support positions within the Nursery or maternity section that require less schooling…LPN, Nurses aid and such.
You may look into volunteering at your local hospital…they sometimes have teen vol. programs that will allow you to do some tasks in this area.
Neo-Natal Nurse Practitioner
You have to become an RN (registered nurse). You have to go to school to become one, usually a 2-4 year nursing program in addition to your prerequisites. That area in the hospital is usually called post pardum
They’re pediatric nurses. And yes, you have to go to college, or at least an accredited nursing program. I’m not sure if they’re RNs or LPNs. If you’re truly interested in nursing, spend the extra year or two and get your RN diploma. LPNs are wonderful, but they’re little more than glorified nurse aides (they can’t give shots, start IVs, etc.) All they really do is take temps. and give sponge baths.
Peadiatric nurse? (Not sure the spelling is correct)
Sorry - Pediatric nurse. try this link
