Medicare And Medicaid Are Both Govt Health Care Policies. Why Shouldn’t The Govt Run A Program For Everyone.
Both the UK and Canada are doing it with both success and opportunities for improvement (long waits for appointments). The US could take their model and perfect it.

I happen to know MANY Canadians there Killabrew…and they happen to LOVE their Health Care. Sorry to rain on your assumption. Nobody dies waiting for a procedure. In Canada, there is an emphasis on Preventive Health Care. Unlike the good ol USA, where…if you can’t afford it or have no insurance, it is likely a person will wait until his condition is dire, before he seeks care.
What big business in this country should realize, is that the more healthy the consumer is….the more productive they are, the longer and more apt they are to continue being consumers. Healthy people live longer, are more productive….and BUY MORE!!!!
Wouldn’t it behoove Corporate America to happily and graciously contribute to a National Health Care System??
I like what mlptmiller (above) is saying. His comments about the Mass. plan and the Lasix example are right on the $$$. If we can get the Big corps to ALL chip in a little… maybe even offer up a little (another) tax credit for their generosity….EVERYONE in the country can be taken care of.
the u k and canada have one tenth the poppulation we do.ask a brit or a canadian what they think of health care in their country, they hate it,you can die waiting for a procedure.its rationed health care.why do you think so many canadians come here for surgeries.the cost would be prohibitive at this scale.and health care is not a constitutional right.medicaid provides for the poor, medicare for the disabled and elderly.
I think we should go the exact opposite direction. We should follow the lead of the state of Massachusetts (I never thought I would say that) and require every citizen to have health insurance and those under a certain poverty cap will be covered by the state on a graduated scale.
This way health care is privatized so their is competition in care between doctors and hospitals (improving service/price) and their is competition between insurance company’s (also improving service and price). Commutation makes every thing better. Also health coverage would not be tied to employers so if you loose your job or change jobs you would still be covered.
This plan would save everyone money.
Look as Laser eye sugary for example. Not covered by health plans or the government, the price has dropped dramatically due to competition in the free market. If it was covered under a government plan the price would have went up.
Having worked in government for years now I can tell you it makes everything less efficient and more expensive.
unlike the UK and CA the USA is a nation driven by the greed of the corparations if everyone had free healthcare our taxes would be about 80% more than they are now! But on the otherehand if your a ******* or prg you can get welfare and have a free ride on the tax payers of the USA
It seems every time a problem comes up, we look to the Government for answers. The next time you take an interest in something, watch how long it takes to get through the House and Senate. I cite the Highway Bill as an example.
See how the money from that was allocated, and look at what it was spent on. It took the better part of 4 years to pass, and was this side of useless. It took less than 1 month to draw up the Patriot Act, and get it passed. Many will say it was for the good of the country. Medicare/Medical Assistance does not qualify as good for the country. It only benefits the people that support it.
The fastest way to screw up anything, is to put the government in charge of it. See; FEMA CIA NAFTA NUCLEAR TRADE WITH INDIA DOT UN IRAQ
